SELMA Screening – 17th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King , Jr. Celebration

See SELMA at Abyssinian: A special screening of SELMA*, the new motion picture about Martin Luther King, Jr. the Civil Rights movement and the March from Selma to Birmingham, AL, will be featured during Abyssinian’s 17th ANNUAL DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. CELEBRATION sponsored by the Abyssinian Ministry of Christian Social Concern.

 This annual event is based on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s third principle of nonviolence, “Nonviolence Seeks to Defeat Injustice, Not People.”

Sessions will include: nonviolence workshops, videos of Dr. Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement, and performances by the Impact Repertory Theater.

Keynote Speaker: Rev. Rashad R. Moore, Ministerial Intern, Abyssinian Baptist Church.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Ted Wells, Jr., a partner in the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

Adults, middle school and high-school age youth are encouraged to attend.

Doors open at 9:30 AM. Continental Breakfast sponsored by Starbucks and the Abyssinian Development Corp.
